Reed College Aikido

Reed College provides training in Shin Shin Toitsu Aikido and Ki Principles as taught by Master Koichi Tohei of the Ki Society International and the Oregon Ki Society. Training is provided in a traditional Japanese manner and is taught by instructors certified by the Ki Society International and receive ongoing instruction to stay current and maintain certification.

Master Tohei is the founder of the Ki Society International. Tohei Sensei presides at the World Headquarters in Japan and his Ki Principles are taught worldwide. The Oregon Ki Society is affiliated with both the Northwest Ki Federation, and the Ki Society International.

Course Instruction

Classes consist of two portions. The first emphasises Ki Training, which provides instruction on mind and body coordination. Ki Training teaches students how to relax and improve concentration through Ki Development Exercises and Ki Meditation. The second hour applies Ki Principles to the martial art of Aikido itself, teaching students how to lead opponents rather than fight with them.
