You will be giving a 9-minute presentation on a topic complementing or extending material covered previously during the semester. The presentations will take place during finals week: 1–3 pm, Thursday, May 12.

Before given your talk, you need to schedule a practice session. See our Moodle page to make an appointment.

You will also be asked to peer-review two presentations given by other class members.

• Exploiting symmetry:
  • The Truth About Lie Symmetries: Solving Differential Equations With Symmetry Methods, Ruth Steinhour, 2013
  • Solutions to Ordinary Differential Equations Using Methods of Symmetry, Martinot, 2014
• numerical methods
• second part of Hilbert's 16th problem
• Laplace transform
• Write javascript code to enhance to enhance the visualization of a flow given here. (You can ask me for the original files to build on.)
• Difference equations. (A discrete version of our subject.)
• Any kind of application (and these are easy to find since so many subjects use differential equations).
