Politics:

I describe myself as a New Deal liberal Democrat in domestic policy, and an SOB in foreign policy.

Gay rights:

I try at least to do my modest bit in gay causes, both political (like the Right to Privacy PAC) and historical (the Gay and Lesbian Archives of the Pacific Northwest, and the Committee for Lesbian and Gay History of the American Historical As sociation).

Comic Verse:

On appropriate occasions I have been known to write verse parodies, especially of Gilbert & Sullivan songs.

Odds and ends:

Dining out, from pizza to haute cuisine

I have a pool table in my basement (on which I am a mediocre performer), surrounded by many of the souvenirs I have accumulated over a lifetime of determined Anglophilia.

I try to spend time with my friends, and keep up with old students, especially those for whom I continue in my role as Jewish Mother. (If you don¼t understand what that means, nothing I could say would help.)
