My research is in the field of condensed matter theory, which means that I study the behavior of large numbers of strongly interacting particles. To see a sampling of the sorts of problems that condensed matter physicists are working on, check out the
Journal Club for Condensed Matter Physics.
I am currently working on a model that gives rise to a state of matter known as the chiral spin liquid. This is an interesting system to study because the collective excitations that emerge in such a system are neither bosons nor fermions (as all elementary particles are); rather, they obey fractional statistics intermediate between these two possibilities. My research is currently supported by a grant from the
Research Corporation.
