Renormalization is the key concept in quantum field theory. In this talk, I'll discuss somes basic ideas of renormalization in the perturbative quantum field theory. I will focus on the Batalin-Vilkovisky geometry and discuss Costello's obstruction theoritic formulation of perturbative renormalization of gauge theory. I'll explain some examples how this construction leads to interesting geometric invariants.
