For some time now I have been interested in the nature of representation. For example, I created a painting (every pixel hand-painted) of an image captured from a remote web cam surveying the streets of American cities. I presented the aforementioned painting juxtaposed with video footages from the same remote web cam from the city where the paintings were supposedly depicting. Furthermore, the gallery was installed with another web cam pointing to the painting exactly so that it's resulting video image echoed that of the remote web cam video providing the viewer with the actual view of the city. The discrepancies are fore-fronted when the viewer walks in front of the painting and he/she punctures the image with his/her own image in the video projection disrupting the chain of re-presentation.
