How many primes are less than one mole?

Richard E. Crandall, Center for Advanced Computation, Reed College

Abstract: Though prime numbers might be thought of as the jewels of discrete mathematics, our most comprehensive understanding of the universe of primes comes from complex analysis. The lecturer will describe ongoing research efforts—such efforts in fact employing analytic means—to count the primes not exceeding one mole (call it 6⋅1023).
