Abstract: We will consider quadratic forms, their meaning and many usages. In particular, we will consider the space of all positive definite quadratic forms and its nice decomposition into cones via "perfect" forms. Connections are made with the speaker's current research. This talk should be fairly elementary, requiring just knowledge of calculus and matrices at most.
