Beginning with the observation that the nicest Riemann
sums for a continuous function f on [0,1] converge to the
integral of f, we'll discuss an interesting generalization in a
variety of settings, including n-dimensional Euclidean space and
infinite products of [0,1]. The general setting will be a locally
compact group, but acquaintance with this concept will not be needed
to appreciate the story.
