| Entropy is either a cruel mistress, or demanding suitor,
depending on one's intellectual orientation. Though we can
rigorously define entropy in mathematical terms, the lecturer will
concentrate on ways in which entropy dominates various fields of
science, and so dominates in an unrelenting, global manner. The
lecturer will describe how one can interpret entropy along
interdisciplinary lines, as we discuss scenarios from probability
theory, computer science, physics, biology, and multimedia studies.
